Fifty-two minutes into the first round of qualifying, the skies opened just as James Hinchcliffe’s was preparing to take to the track. Ten cars have posted qualifying speeds and Helio Castroneves is currently number one with an impressive 228.919 from his Pennzoil Chevy.

Stablemate Simon Pagenaud holds second spot at 228.304 and Spencer Pigot completes a top-three Chevy run (so far) at 228.052. Scott Dixon, Ed Jones, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Jay Howard, rookie Zachary Claman DeMelo, Graham Rahal, and Jack Harvey (slowest at 225.233) complete the roster.

Oriol Servia took the green flag but sailed out of the groove entering turn one and was waved off after two slow laps. Track drying has commenced and the sun is out at 12:25 PM — keep your fingers crossed!
